SWORDFISH   Print  E-mail

Perhaps the only film in history to be pulled from the cinemas due to terrorism.....

After the Sept. 11th attacks in New York, "Swordfish" sees John Travolta as Gabriel Shear, renegade ex-government agent with a hidden agenda, hiring computer expert Hugh Jackman ("X-Men") in order to infiltrate the worlds biggest bank take hostages wrapped in explosive, and make off with billions.

A slick, moody, exciting pyrotechnical techno thriller using a flashback structure, "Swordfish" features action setpieces by the dozen: Exploding pedestrians in glorious 360 degree slo-motion, car chases, double handed gunplay, terrorist hold ups, the lot. Far better than Director Dominic Sena's previous film (the dire "Gone in 60 Seconds"), "Swordfish" is a spectacular, if occasionally undemanding, action flick that is eminently watchable, total eyecandy, and very enjoyable. Check your brain (and Uzi) in at the foyer, and enjoy.

The DVD features an entertaining commentary by the director, alternate endings and deleted scenes, and lots and lots of behind the scnes stuff. Every wonder how they make a bus fly through a 32nd floor office? here's how....
