Maybe 9-11 was a good thing....

Maybe, just maybe, the attacks were a good thing. In somuch as something good can come out of the bad. For too long America has sat in a secluded ivory tower, protected by oceans and money. For too long America has seen terrorism and global genocide as little more than a backdrop for the latest Bruce Willis movie. But now it's real. True Lies has become True Life.

Many Americans have looked out into the world before today and said 'It couldn't happen here'. The implication here, obviously, is that it's Ok for it to happen elsewhere. America thinks it is Special. The child of capitalism, mollycoddled away from the consequences of the mass global rape & pillage it forces onto others. The arrogance of America has been dented. America has oft thought itself beyond reproach. Not anymore.

Until that day, the rest of the world has borne the brunt of America's sometime-irresponsible, selfish actions. Now it is time for America to bear the brunt of the anger of the rest of the world. Capitalism kills and murders millions discreetly through it's policies - a few hundred here or there, and environmental collapse that Bush is supporting, are just statistics. The tables may very well be turned by the destruction of the most obvious symbols of moneyed privilege and injustice in the world.

Now,  it is time for America to live in the world the rest of us live in. A world of terrorism. Of carbombs, uncertainty, and the fact that every stranger may very well be a fundamentalist suicide bomber intent on bringing down infidels whose beliefs are different. Like a cancer that seeks to convert every other cell into a clone of itself, perhaps the world was levelled slightly and America can realise that there is a lot more to the World than itself. Have you ever wonder why World Baseball only contains American Teams?

Even now, Mr. Powell is claiming that the people are treating the US unfairly. What about the nations that the US treats unfairly? What about them?  They're meaningless, insignificant. The US is the ONLY nation that matters - a bloated dinosaur that is desperately clinging to the last vestiges of power it has by any means possible. Its time the tables were turned. Its time the US woke up and realised that its seed has been sown, it's birds are coming home to roost, a change is on the way. Even if the majority of the want to live in a different world, maybe nobody else will give the public what they want. maybe they've got to do it themselves. Can they be bothered? Can they?

Hey Ma, Whats on the Jerry Springer show tonight?
