The Wonder Stuff did what the Wonder Stuff do - they rock the joint, and give you great songs served with dollops of spunk. The first couple of songs were remarkably flat, not from them, but from an unappreciative crowd: there were only about 30 or 40 people jumping around for the first ten minutes, before something happened and the rest of the field seemed to get the hint.

Miles had a fantastic pair of 70's retro-Fight Club-style shades on, and the rest of them looked as good as ever, bar Martin who had loads of gaffa tape over his drummy fingers thanks to blisters (probably). It was unusual though. The first time I've seen the Wonder Stuff support anyone since 19th March 1992, and the first time I've seen them play a truncated set in daylight. It just doesn't seem right seeing The Wonder Stuff playing for only an hour, and to be followed by Joe Strummer performing a set comprised mostly of old Clash songs and then to see that followed by the Ghost of the Pogues. It's also the first time I've seen a Wonder Stuff gig without Circlesquare. Or Give Give Give Me More More (fucking) More as Milo introduces it.

What we did get was a Wonder Stuff gig as good as any I've seen. Of coures, it was up to me I'd choose lots of different songs, but hell, who's complaining? It's a Stuffies gig, and we didn't think two years ago we'd be seeing ANY of those. And who knows if we're seeing any ever again.

And half an hour after they are so rudely evicted from the stage, a big trail of people assemble at the other end of the field where the Stuffies do a rare autograph signing session and seem in a remarkably good mood. Shame nobody told me that was happening! I've got a few CD's here waiting to be defaced by big marker pens. Oh well.... here's to seeing you all again when someone offers the Stuffies a boatload of cash for some gigs.

JB's was awesome by the way. Did anybody tell you?

Set List:A Wish Away, Ruby Horse, On The Ropes, Here Comes Everyone, Golden Green, Size Of A Cow, Sleep Alone, Mission Drive (in one piece!), Caught In My Shadow, Cartoon Boyfriend, Don't Let Me Down Gently, Unbearable, Ten Trenches Deep.

And onto the Alabama 3.

... a pretty good gig, not as good as Brixton's fabbo Christmas bash, but pretty damn rocking. Notable points were - D Wayne getting lost back stage and missing his cue for the first song : Complete absence of Segs on bass - what's that all about? : Some new, fantastic songs, like normal. And a couple of babes singing backing vocals, one of whom was fairly prominently not wearing a bra and throwing feathers around. And the MountainofLove's harmonica not being miked up properly for the first song.

OK, I really should be in bed now. I'm shellshocked and headfucked. The set was:

Toasting song. (No Larry or D Wayne). Lord Have Mercy On My Wicked Soul, Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness, I Don't Mind Dying, U Dont Dans 2 Tekno Anymore, Rehabilitated, Don't Fly No Flag, Woke Up This Morning (with Paddy), Bulletproof, Too Sick To Pray, Yellow Rose Of Texas, Hypo Full Of Love, I've Got Two Heads For Jesus, I've Got Three Eyes But I'll Pluck One Out For The Lord, Peace In The Valley
